Here I m again....
Aftr taking finasteride fr almost 2 months I decided to quit it due to intolerant sexual side effects suddenly aroused...its been almost 2 weeks since I quited finasteride...still m not getting erection while masturbating....very small amount of semen ejaculation...Im in depression fr last one month over my hair nd now this sexual problem...which I cnt evn discuss wid my family....my nly hope is u guys...plz guys help me out what shud I do now???
I m so shattered....plz tell me side efects will definitely go away in one or two weeks nd ill b normal again....ive been in depression fr a month....can this also b a cause fr my side effects???
I cnt control my thoughts of me being impotent....plz kindly help

Hey man I got bad side effects on finasteride as well, and it took a few months before my body was back to normal, so just give it some time. You are young and resilient, forgive yourself. I'm trying avodart now and I am hoping I won't get any sides. I have been obsessed with losing my hair forever and its easy to obsess over side effects too, but I figure life is about taking action, and I would rather try to make things better before accepting going bald.

Hey man. Don't panic. Remember that no matter what - this thing could be reversed. There are special hormone therapies that you can pass to bring back your DHT level to normal (read about HRT - hormone replacement therapy).
HOWEVER, I confident that you won't even need this. Just quit finasteride and wait, slowly the situation will be back to normal. You can contribute to it by running a healthier lifestyle, especially diet. Eat healthier, do some sports, it should help you.
There are nice alternatives to finasteride, read about them here in the forum.

What you have to understand about sexual problems is that they not only come from a drug, like finasteride, but of course also worrying and stressing out about it. 99.9% of people with sexual problems aren't taking finasteride, the problems are a result of worrying. I would bet that right now your problems are mostly, or all, a result of your mind and not the finasteride. I'm not saying finasteride doesn't cause sexual side effects, I believe it does. But not in most people, and you stopped 2 weeks ago... you'll have normal sexual function again when you stop stressing out about it, and only then. It's not a turn-on to sit and freak out about whether or not you're getting aroused.

But ive stopped thinking about my hair for sometime nd not seeking for any treatment cause I really have to analyse myself again to check whether I hv male pattern baldness or not(will post a seperate thread later)....ive consulted to two dermatologists nd they said ur hairline is absolutely normal nd didnt prescribe anything..i didnt believe them nd I strtd taking treatment myself aftr reading posts here....but Norwood ive stopped evrythng fr some time nd will analyse my hair again aftr exm..

Have you never had a really nervous event of some sort coming up and on that day your tummy is rumbling despite not being hungry and also mild diarrhoea too? I have plenty of times. If I'm super nervous about something, this nervousness will very rapidly mess up my usual bodily functions.

Ive nvr got this loose erection ever....i used to masturbate even a night b4 exm (u may know the stress of exm)
My body used to function normally evn in stress...but I think stress of male pattern baldness is something different....maybe thats y m getting this sexual side effects

Hey buddy, while it is definitely a possibility that your ED is being caused by finasteride, it is also very possible that it is being caused by your fear of ED.

A few years back I had a lot of trouble with ED, though I wasnt taking medication. I knew that it was all in my head, but whenever I was with a woman I would start worrying about going soft during fore play and then I would end up not getting an erection.

My advice to you is stop masturbating, stop watching p**rn, and start meditating. Also if you are going to have relations with a woman, do it with one that you are comfortable with. I am almost certain that if you do this, your weiner will be good as new soon enough.

I think it's a little early to tell the guy to go to a psychiatrist and get medicated. If every guy who had performance anxiety at some point did that, every guy would be medicated. Performance anxiety for a week, or several weeks is no big deal.

Beside..it is not addicting and changes life of people..

Beta blocker is not a psychiatric drug..

It just make sure you dont anxious..

Its many times given to a person in bereavement..
