I've been losing hair since about 22. And had gone on and off rogaine and propecial when i was 23-24. I finally started taking rogaine and propecia seriously when i hit 25 and the hair loss was getting untolerable. It seemed to have slowed things down (but did not stop the hairloss). So now I am 34 and been on rogaine & propecia (1/4 proscar) for the last 8 yrs. During this whole time, I never really did my research on hairloss and did not know I was supposed to also use Nizoral. This last year, my hairloss seemed to have accellerated. So I started doing research and found out about Nizoral.

How badly did i screw myself by not using Nizoral along with Rogaine & finasteride. I have been using Nizoral for the last 2 months now. But haven't seen much of a difference. Can i expect the addition of Niroral to kick in soon?

My word is far from gospel, because I'm sort of green to this whole process myself, so take my word with a grain of salt, but as I understand it, Nizoral only has marginal /temporary effect for removing DHT from receptor ares of hair follicles.

I would venture to say that Propecia and Minoxidil are by far more powerful, and important in the first line of defense against hairloss than Nizoral could hope to be. You should be using an antiandrogen shampoo (like Nizorral or Revita) to be sure, but if Propecia and Minoxidil didn't do it, I wouldn't expect much from Nizoral.

I would personally, besides getting Nizoral, be looking into other alternative growth simulators like laser comb + daily Capsaicin, Stinging Nettle, Saw Palmetto, B12, MSM etc if I were in your boat. If those failed after a year I'd probably cede that it was transplant time if I was over a Norwood 4 , but that's just me.

Nizoral is great in the way that it's relatively easy to use (it's a shampoo, you wash your hair every now and then anyway) and it's great for dandruff (wich often accompanies hairloss).

It's sort of a nice little add- on tha may thicken your hair in the best case and remove your dandruff in the worse case.

I read a study once comparing it's effect to that of 2% rogaine.
Can't find a link though, but it's probably on pubmed.
