Been on finasteride 9 days and...

...No side effects, aside from semi-persistent headaches and a little bit of tiredness. I have also noticed a slight difficulty in concentrating (especially when reading). Are these common side effects? Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did these effects subside after some time, even when keeping the same dosage? Just been noticing it for the last few days, but everything else is fine. No sexual sides at all.

I'm on 1 mg daily, and am wondering if I should drop down to .5 mg daily and see if that helps. My job requires me to focus and concentrate for long periods of time, and I don't want to interfere with that. Advice?

Thanks.

I think you have normal initial anxiety that happens to people when they start taking finasteride only because of the side effects they've read about other people posting online?

I think I feel a bit different mentally but that's pretty hard to quantify, could be placebo too.

Though, I had real side effects (gyno symptoms) which went away after lowering and up-tapering the dose. My libido now is somewhat lower.

same, somehwta lower libido, erections are fine and i may notice myself a little more tired than usual, but nothing crazy. Also, i believe Yoshi is right, the anxiety that finasteride gave me after a month was insane and i was convinced it was a side effect of it. but then i realized i always had finasteride on my mind all day, this was the reason to my easy distraction and inability to concentrate and my uneasiness. Over the past couple weeks ive learned to stop thinking about finasteride as soon as i catch myself thinking of it and i feel great. Although this attempt on finasteride has been a smooth ride in comparison to others. i also suffered gyno and emotional blunting on my previous efforts. I am now on my longest finasteride streak and suffer from none of those, although i do catch myself sweating a little more in class lately, but i dont wanna go blaming every damn thing on finasteride.

I think people need to wake up and accept (and learn) that finasteride and a reduction of DHT in those susceptible can have a pretty drastic effect on mental awareness. Yes: difficulty concentrating, fatigue, and headaches are known side effects of finasteride. I believe most people have a fairly good idea of how they should feel normally and when that is modified due to medication, it's noticed.

Sure placebo can be an issue for some, but due to how many people notice a change in mental acuity, energy level, etc...it's too common for it to be counted off as anxiety or fear. Not every case is just someone "playing up their fears." Lots of people get negative mental side effects right off of the bat and they shouldn't be discounted!

The only reason placebo is such a great factor with finasteride is because propecia help people and pfs ers have made us paranoid. When I first started taking finasteride the side effects were on my mind constantly and as the months went and everything was good I kept getting more and more tension off my shoulders. Thats why placebo plays such a big role here because we all expect the worst with finasteride in the beginning.

I also get headaches from finasteride besides that I sometimes feel little dizzy since I started finasteride but I don't know if this is a side effect of finasteride. Did anybody else expierienced dizziness on finasteride?

I lowered my dosage to 0,5 mg as my derm suggested it he also told me to give my body some time to adjust to the drug. We are speaking about hormonal changes he said and this might take some time. So I would not quit
