Autoglym is almost perfect, but leaves a smell

So I tried Autoglym for the first time. I didn't leave it soaking for a very long time -- an hour maximum. It really worked itself inside the glue residue and made it easy to scrape off (all of the glue residue became foamy and glumpy), but I've still got little pieces remaining inside the hair bases that had seeped through the lace. Although, not nearly as much as before with other solvents. I probably didn't get those parts completely soaked, right? I'll try to comb those remains out with a comb covered with propanol or smth.

But the problem with this thing is: it really smells and so does my hairpiece now. It's a very strong chemical I guess. Any recommendations? More washing the base with dish washing liquid?
