Anyone ever give topical raspberry ketones an honest try?

I ran across an old study from 2008 regarding the topical application of raspberry ketones. There was some discussion on the forum, but no one reported back on their efforts and the thread turned into a discussion about a topical someone was selling. http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/archive/index.php/t-35100.html

Just curious if anyone ever gave it a good effort, and what results if any were had?

The original study abstract:
Effect of topical application of raspberry ketone on dermal production of insulin-like growth factor-I in mice and on hair growth and skin elasticity in humans.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18321745

This link contains supposed photos from the study group: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=ddgxuh&s=3

Another interesting study (though it is related to breast cancer) that identifies raspberry ketone as a AR antagonist is below. It says eugenol has a stronger effect.

Effect of essential oils, such as raspberry ketone and its derivatives, on anti androgenic activity based on in vitro reporter gene assay.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20226658

Any info on experiences would be helpful.

Thanks,

Sterling

I haven't purely used it, but I've used it with caffeine, vitamin C and zinc (but I used the zinc before without success). I think most of my gains (not very much, but I've only used it for a few months) comes from it, but impossible to say.

Thanks Dude. I think I am going to give it a go with an oil based (jojoba, emu, castor) vehicle. I may end up adding some other ingredients as well, but will report back sometime with results if I stick with it.

PUSH:

0.01% in topicals..., ten bucks for lifetime supply. Easy to get as well.

Honestly, I dont think there is a cheaper addition than RK.

More ppl should try it.

We need feedback ....

You got the study, you got pictures. Lifetime supply takes ten bucks, can be easily added to any ethanol based topical like minoxidil etc...

Ppl use it on german forums a bit. Nothing revolutionary but still a good addition.

Meanwhile you spent hundred of bucks on hairmax? :D

I’m about to try RK , IIm not sure if mixing it with other oils is a good thing or not. There is a size limit for molecules to penetrate the skin, unsure

Put it into a water/ethanol based vehicle. minoxidil, stemox, vodka... should be perfect for it. No need to ruin the nicely low molecular weight by putting it into a terrible vehicle.

I am going to add it to my stemox topical next month once I feel comfortable about my black cumin seed trial. I will update.

Also @HairCook, you have a pretty interesting and expansive regimen. Are you seeing benefits from it?
