I'm getting even older this week and have reached the time for a 6 month recap.

Daily Regimen: 1.25 mg generic finasteride, 5% Kirkland Min, 1% nizoral, 3000 mg MSM, 1000 mcg biotin, Mega Man and various other vitamins

Where I started - I was a long time diffuse thinner. Many moons ago, I had transplants in the temple/hairline region and the goal was to improve the hair behind the plants in order to prevent "islands". I keep my hair cropped to about a half inch military style and the crown area was beginning to show traditional male pattern baldness signs. Overall, scalp was showing through in some places and I felt it was worth a shot to see if it could be improved upon.

Inspiration - Although I don't have a any photos to post right now, my condition is remarkably similar to Martin in the HairLossTalk.com photo gallery.

I figured if it worked for him, then it might for me. The big difference is that I don't have the loss in the temples that he has - the plants fixed that.

Results - Pretty much standard and in line with a lot of people. After a 2 month initial "hormone transistion phase," body adjusted and settled in nicely. No negative side effects to report. Libido is great when I think about it and very normal for my age (43). Had a initial shed at the 2-4 week mark and am undergoing a second, less severe shed at the 6 month mark. Overall, hair is thicker, fuller and healthier than ever - giving the impression of new growth. I think it's better to describe it as the overall improvement of the hair I still had.

Future - I'm committed to the regimen for another 6+ months and then will consider topical DHT blocker as opposed to finasteride. May add grape seed or other "cant hurt, might help" category ingredients as I deem fit. I'm really trying to keep the regimen fairly simple without crossing over in the "kitchen sink" approach.

Thanks - to the many good people on this terrific site. It's great to share a common bond, even if it's rooted in the form of hairloss. The knowledge gained here helps most of us to keep the proper perspective and patience in the swim throught the quagmire of possible treatments. Coupled with my personal and somewhat bent frame, it's makes it an enjoyable place to spend time.

Good luck to everyone....
