Am I receding or just mature hairline?

I've always had quite a high forehead, but can't tell if I am receding or not. Please excuse the red in my hair, I dyed it red a few months ago so now have some root regrowth. I am 21 years old. :dunno:

You wont be able to pull hot chiks with or without hair, so what is the main difference?

Your hairline is high and you do have some miniaturisation so you are receding and it may well recede a little further, however you do generally have dense terminal hair so my suspicion is that your hairline is maturing and while because of your high hairline you will look a little receded i would be surprised if it got a lot worse quickly. Have you any hairloss in the family?

I would keep an eye on it by taking photos every 6 months and in the meantime reseach 'the big 3' and other medications in case you decide you want to halt it in its tracks.

My dad still has all this hair and its really thick at 51, all his brothers have hair apart from one. My grandfather on my mothers side went bald quite early. My mums brother is in his 40s and still has all his hair, as does my cousin whos in his 30s who we share the same grandfather. The thing with my hairline is it''s hard to gage, i've always had pretty straight up and down sides (not the temples) Most guys will have some hair coming out at the sides so it's easier to gage if they're receding. I was reading about a maturing hairline and it says it's normal for the temples to go back by 1/2 to an inch from the hairline, mine are currently about 1/2 inch.

Your hair and history reminds me a bit of mine. Little loss in the family. When I was 16 my hair looked like yours, now I am 28 and it is very slightly worse, i am still NW2 an have been for over 12 years. Most men eventually lose some of it, you probably will too but there is no indication from your pictures that you will go bald anytime soon. You will likely continue to recede and its very difficult to say at what speed, you may lose another Norwood scale in 5, 10 or 20 years. Its worth visiting a derm but if you take pics for yourself every 6 months under natural light you will be able to tell if you should be concerned or not. All the best

Thanks for your help. I did get some nizoral shampoo today as I have seb derm/dandruff on my scalp I was using Tgel but it hasn't been that effective. I was taking 4000mg of cod liver oil aday until recently I read too much vitamin a can be bad for hair.

Nizoral is a good idea, you could also try minoxidil if you suspect you have lost hair in the hairline, minoxidil can bring those back to life. Im not sure about vitamins particularly, I know biotin is supposed to be good for hair health but ultimately i think when it comes down to it i am a bit of sceptic about what vitamins can do.

I think your hairline, although slightly receded, looks strong. I personally don't see miniaturization- that's probably just the difference in colour. As for Gascoigne's post; it's true, you need a perfectly round and chubby head, with cold droopy features to get girls like he does.

I didn't make this post asking for peoples opinions on my appearance and if people are going to find me attractive tbf, I made this post to ask if my hairline was receeding. And lets face it, judging by your pic << you're hardly Bradd Pitt yourself, just sayin :whistle:
