Ok, for real- what's with this talk by some people, ie (Gilgamesh), that finasteride use causes an increase in estrogen which in turn causes quicker aging, feminizing effects, hinders muscle growth, less facial hair, more prone to cancer, grows breasts? I mean, is finasteride really that bad?? If so, how could it be FDA approved and deemed safe? I'm not sure what to beleive anymore. Bryan? Anyone?

if you are concerned why don't you talk to your doctor about it instead of getting scared because you read what some dude writes about it on a forum.

don't be scared!

Let me TRY to put your mind at ease. I have known my dermatologist for my entire life. He is a very good family friend and he is great doctor. I have just recently went on Propecia and believe me, I asked all of the questions about it that you could possibly ask regarding side effects and all of this scare crap on here. Propecia is safe. Yes, there are side effects just like any other drug or herb you take. Side effects from Propecia are VERY LOW and WILL GO AWAY once you stop the medication. In most cases (about 94%) the side effects go away if you DO stay on the medication. In short: DON"T BE SCARED because someone says they had side effects from the medication. Don't listen to them. Take the drug, stay positive, and hope for the best! DON'T BE SCARED!! Ibuprofen has side effects to but that doesn't stop anyone from taking it!!
Good luck in your quest to keep your hair and remember you are not alone and losing your hair isn't the end of the world. Just stay positive!! It could be a lot worse!

be afraid to use propecia. Don't take it lightly. I don't care how much of a family man your derm is, he learns all his info from big pharma. whatever big pharma tells him, he tells his patients, its as simple as that.

I mean if you are willing to accept the risks, by all means go ahead, but go pop a pill and think its healthy for you, because its not.

Gilgamesh doesnt know sh*t more than a doctor or someone specializing in hairloss...if Finasteride really did all of that sh*t dont you think you would've heard of these life threatening/life altering effects from press / doctors ...No my guess is Finasteride isnt as bad as people make it out to be. Gilgamesh is just what ifing and in his own fantasy world/

Yeah - too much of a conspiracy theorist. Even if the doctor got info off of 'big pharma', if he got loads of people coming into his clinic with gyno and suchlike from taking propecia, I'm sure you'd be the first to know. The sheer volume of people doctors see in your condition is enough for them to get my vote of approval.

There are quite a few people spouting a lot of sh*t about finasteride on here lately.

To be honest, I don't really give a f*** what they say - I've been on it for 9 months and had no side effects at all.

If you want to keep your hair take it, if your a hypochondriac OCD pussy who thinks they are going to die if someone next to them coughs in an elevator, then don't.

But I tell you what, if you don't want to take stop posting the reams of wank that I keep reading on here with no proper proof.

I smoke cigarettes... and I know how it could effect me. i'm trying to quit yet its addicting... now.. we ALL know what tobacco can do to you... how can people who smoke worry about propecia and the side effects yet at the same time not worry about their smoking habits? There are much more BIGGER things out there to worry about... yet we're getting all worked up on side effects of propecia with no scientific backing.
= Makes no sense.

where are the health hazard labels on propecia like the ones cigarette packs?

= just a bunch of bullshit to me.

Finasteride won't kill you. Smoking 5 cigarettes a day won't either. But it's better to live without it. I've been on finasteride for a year (i didn't miss a day) and could have stayed on it for many years. I realised its bad effects on me (along real success for my hair) about 7-10 days after i stopped. Libido and erections are better, I've got more energy overall, but the most impressive change is a MUCH clearer mind, like if i had removed some fog that was before my eyes. My mood is also better. That was just my personnal experience, I'm not saying this will happen to everyone. I've just started Revivogen and will probably add spironolactone when i find a way to import it to France.

I wouldn't worry about Gilgamesh.

People like him that come here and completely bash Finasteride are a dime a dozen (and they have a right to post what they want), they pop up every few months.

I think it is good to have positive and negative comments to create a balance from every angle.

But what is unsual about Gilgamesh is that he is currently posting under 3 nicknames, all of which have the same tone, and all within the last 3 months to make it seem like more people have a problem and think exacty as he does.

IP's...........those pesky IP's.

EDIT: By the way, that side effect group on Yahoo have done this exact same thing before. If he is a part of them anyway.

haha, way too put me on blast

I have said (and continue) to say finasteride is easily worth the side effects : I wasn't discouraging it's use

Hair is more important than anything obviously : I'm OCD about finasteride because I have other very very serious health problems. My point in posting most of that stuff was that the sides were not in people's heads and were very real.

Yeah it's EXTREMELY bad for you, but so are a lot of other things you're doing (like all that refined sugar you're eating on a daily basis)

If you're on finasteride, just make up for it with eating very good and exercising a lot. I definitely wouldn't advise not taking propecia and turning into Norwood McHorseshoe. It's incredibly effective at maintenance for a good subsect of male pattern baldness.

I don't have a freakin anti-finasteride agenda. I'm a desperate balding guy like the rest of you (more desperate than most). I'm on a very low dose of finasteride myself and I think it's a wonder drug for male pattern baldness when it comes to hair. I made a post under a different screename some time ago that said 'PLEASE DON'T MAKE MY MISTAKE AND IGNORE YOUR BALDING. GET ON FINASTERIDE NOW!'. I told my own brother to get on finasteride for maintenance (while informing of all the bad effects).

wonder why cassin didn't point that out

My only point if you follow my posts is to tell people the sides aren't all in their psychosomatic delusions.

If you don't have an agenda then why the multiple nicks? Please don't say you lost your password like the other people say, heard that one too many times. Post as much negative stuff as you can, I couldn't care less. If people take your posts as absolutes then that is their choice. Just stop posting under multiple nicks trying to make it seem like there are more of you, thats it.

End of story. Moving on.......

I must say that I have this foggy affect in my head, I'm also struggeling to be really happy at the moment. Before I started finasteride I was the happiest if my life. I think it does affect the mood of the person taking it. I also think it muddles with your head. It makes you fuzzy and clumsy. Just like a women..

Trax,

Have you recently gone a bit mental? Before you used to post normal comments and now the majority of your comments are off-the-wall. Maybe it has to do with the new avatar?
