Its slowed my loss down (anywhere between 10-50 hairs a day) but i'm still receeding, maybe even at an increased rate?? i now its early days but i'm not really seeing an signs of improvement, plus its absolutely battered my libido big time....

i've only noticed today as ive had my hair cut, I've used the same barber for the last 5 years and he also agreed it had receeding slightly more aswell.. I really wanna be able to praise propecia as i decided to take it as a last resort measure but its not doing me any favours at all!

If the situation changes in time i will update..

** edit its just under the 4 month mark now first pill taken 2nd december

Yes, shedding and looking worse before the regrowth is all part of the finasteride package.

I echo what everyone has already said. I almost quit after 4 months. Nearly 4 years later...I can say that I am VERY happy that I did not :)

thanks for the replies guys, i really am seeing no improvement though... areas that i had hair t(he tiny vellus hairs) have no hair on at all now.. i also have a few spots just behind my hairline? is this normal? or is it actually accelerating my impending baldness? i will continue to ride this out, but i'm very, very sceptical at the moment. i'm scared that i'm not gonna be one the lucky ones!!

:(

Lee,

I'm in the same situation. I started on December 28 and Nizoral the week after. Other than hair that feels a little healthier (maybe the nizoral?) I haven't really seen any results. In fact, to me, it appears that my hairloss has continued or even accelerated. When combined with the fact that I'm also now inspecting my hair in the mirror everyday, frustration and disappointment are probably inevitable.

But, it was nice reading some of the replies in this thread. Knowing that many people experience more hairloss before the full effects of finasteride can be realized visually is hopeful. I am so happy this forum exists.

Best of luck to everyone,

Hey Lee

I've been on propecia for almost 6 months now and i'd say that between months 3-4 my hair shed more than at any other point and i shed before that as well. My hair was worse than normal at that time, i did get me down and i did think about quitting. However recently loads of little hairs sprouted and the existing hair seems to be thickening up.
Hang in there, propecia used to use the tag line "slow, grow, show" to represent a 3, 6 and 12 month timeline respectively whilst taking their product. The evidence also shows that hair weight continues to improve even up to 3 years after initially taking it.
I'm glad i stuck with it and hopefully will see everything get better and better by the time i hit the one year mark, ride it out until then and hopefully you should see gains.

Just started my 7th month and I have not seen any growth and would say I am disappointed but maybe it is because I do not use anything else. I tried minoxidil 5% for a few months but I stopped. I am would like to see something but will ride it out at least a year. Just stared fincar as $200 for every 3 months is a lot of money. All the best and hopefully one day soon they will have some stem cell injection to cure us all. :)

Where are you getting your meds? That is REALLY expensive for 3 months! See if you can get a doctor to write you a script for proscar, then quarter it. It'll save you BOATLOADS of money.
