I noticed some recession and thinning this year for the first time, and immediately started taking finasteride every day. It's only been a couple of months so I didn't expect many results, but my hair seems to be getting aggressively worse. I've only been taking finasteride because it's cheaper, but should I start paying to add minoxidil as well?View attachment 190907

It gets worse before it gets better is the (moto) but its not true for every indevidual. finasteride can also cause permanent side effects something I have experienced. Im using oral minoxidill and topical rosemary essential oil and my hair is better than when I was on dutasteride for 1.5 years. dutasteride killed my hair and caused sexual side effects same with finasteride. Quit this poison trust me it aint worth it.

It's because you're shedding, it's normal. When I started dutasteride and min I was shedding like a mf, my hair is stable now. Wait at least 6 months.

Normally after about 3-4 months you should see positive results or stabilization. If it's worse beyond 2 months it's a red flag. Give it about another month and if it's worse then I would go with minoxidil, possibly low dose oral minoxidil, as a replacement for finasteride. Not everyone responds positively to 5ARIs!!!

I know you replied to OP. well I personally always check how much hair I lose. My hair kept thinning for 1.5 years while on dutasteride with zero shed. Actually lost even less hair while on dutasteride but hair got way way thinner. After stopping it my hair slowed down in thinning to a snails pace and got slightly thicker. Drugs works differently in all people. dutasteride thinned my hair super fast but seems good for you. Also dutasteride reduced my semen production to 1 drop. And caused ejaculation disorder same side effect as finasteride. These drugs are castration pills and no man should be on them. Brother you barely have hairloss you just have paranoia. No need for treatments. I also quit oral min. Its bad for heart, causes water retention and darker more puffy under eye circles. Block collagen production and block androgen receptors+some dht. All pharma hairloss drugs are bad. Only good for the hair for (some)

It's not ideal to take these drugs but it is what it is. I'm pretty sure that I'd be balding badly if I'd never taken them. I've got more hair for my age than my other family members. My cousin is 5 years older and his hair is completely fucked.

Thankfully I dont have severe hairloss in my genes. Im 37 NW2 and people tell me I got thick hair and even said it looks like a wig lol. My hair has never been so stable with no further thinning that I notice. I took duta and fina for absolutely nothing and possibly suffered permanent side effects. Did you quit OM btw? I did just using topical rosemary and my laser helmet.

I think you should take both Minoxidil in addition to the Finasteride you are already using. Minoxidil takes some time to notice if it is working or not, and Finasteride will do most of the work (for androgen alopecia).

In my own opinion, I really feel that topical Progesterone does the most work. I am a man in his fifties, and when I used a 2% topical Progestserone solution, I had virtually no hairloss at all. I have been balding since my twenties.

In the United States, you can only get a 1% Progesterone prescribed solution from hairregrowthmd.com. Medicalwellness center is much cheaper, but they only do a maximum of 0.25%. (* Disclosure, I received the 2% Progesterone solution from hairregrowthmd, and then their doctor, because they went out of business in 2018, and were bought by a different owner). Hairregrowthmd is better, but they are much more expensive.

If you don't live in the United States, you probably get it from their because they have a*** prescription laws (and without saying, are not foreign worker friendly at this point in time.. for other reasons).

That said, Minoxidil does not really tamper with your hormones. Finasteride has a short half life, and while it is active, it cuts down 70% of your DHT levels (which you don't need for strength building, because testosterone does that).

Dustasturide has a long half life, although it does cut down more DHT. I tried Dustasteride and had ED for a month after I quit it. That went away though.

Nobody makes 2% topical Progesterone in the United States anymore. I'm just talking about my own experience.

Instead of just running your mouth and saying you tried it, show me where you found Progesterone.

I actually think you're full of sh*t, to be honest.

I did have temporary ED from Dustasteride, and since you're not me, shut the f*** up about my experience.

I used naturall prog cream under my armpits felt very calm on it. Didnt use it on scalp or any special type of prog. But the idea is that prog blocks dht so why just not use topical finasteride instead? I would never go back to using prog of any kind even topically. it will just go systemic
and cause hormonal imbalance and hairloss/thinning.

I only stopped it for 5 days, I don't think that's long enough for me to lose ground. I'm losing hair on the sides of my head.

View attachment 190922
To get thinner hair with age on the sides is normal I would say. Its because we sleep on our sides and it causes friction and less circulation in those areas. I wouldnt worry too much. Only if its a fast progression yes but not if its very very slow. Also gotta be prepared that messing with hormones can cause hormonal imbalance and thyroid instability aswell. This is why my hair is stable atm and stopped thinning in my crown after dropping dutasteride which I did 2 years ago.

I made a post about it 6 years ago. I've had it for a while. It grows back and thins out again quite frequently. About 3 months ago my hair looked pretty good on the sides. I'm pretty sure that I have DUPA but it's just not super aggressive. I have mild thinning on the top and back.

I bet if you go with a tight fade it’ll look less noticeable
I used to get a fade but I got bored of the look and it's really annoying having to get it done every week. After about 2 weeks it grows back super patchy. I think I might just use a small amount of hair fibres on sunny days.
