Hi, I'm 21 and my hair is like, mega f'd up. I haven't started any treatments yet. I just recently visited my dermatologist and he told me it was either male pattern baldness (since baldness is in both sides of my family) or traction alopecia. What should I do? I'm so riddled with psychological stress and a total strike against my self-esteem, I don't know what to do with myself. I always wear hats or my hair in a ponytail to cover the spot but, it's so freaking prominent.

Did your dermatologist prescribe/suggest anything, or just give you a non-committal diagnose? Sounds kind of amateurish to be honest. "Well, it might be this, or it might be this...see you later!"

If it's male pattern baldness: finasteride, minoxidil, nizoral shampoo.
It it's traction alopecia: Maybe a transplant to fill in where it's gotten f*cked up and stop wearing your hair however you did that made it that way. (although I don't know much about traction alopecia)

You may need to see either another dermatologist, or a (reputable) hair specialist for a proper diagnosis.

If you are suffering from hair thinning or male pattern baldness then, try it out some medicines like generic proscar, generic propecia or generic minoxidil. But before use these medicines take advice from the best doctor. For medicines you can try samrx.
