The hair started thinning on top but has now progressed all over. The Top is thinner but I think only because it has only started thinning in the last 3 months

Hi need help. My 18yr old has been losing his hair for 2 yrs. He has tried Proscar but it didn't seem to add any hair. Please some advice. He is now extremely depressed. Any help would be greatly appreciated
