There is definitely an association between metabolic syndrome and premature androgenic alopecia. Those with the worst genetics will lose hair regardless of lifestyle, but I wouldn't ignore published science. Anecdotes are often unreliable.
For example,
Association of androgenetic alopecia with...
Garsh
Chagrined to admit it, but I have had this thought more than once, and have even tried sleeping diagonally. :sulkoff:
I would assume side sleepers would have very asymmetric hair loss that covered an area normally uninvolved by Androgenetic Alopecia (ie. above the ear)
It is extremely unlikely that curcumin causes any significant sexual side effects in the vast majority of people that take it, as the two countries that uses it as a heavy constituents of their diet comprise 30% of the world population. They didn't get there with impotence.
Of note: This...
I disagree with this statement. The first two drugs have wide therapeutic indices.
For the vast majority of people, spironolactone is overkill. Most do not need to take all three to have significant positive results. "Big 3" is a loaded phrase. Be definition, physiology and disease are...
The picture is a Rorschach, well done sir.
Do you have the pics of the frolicking? I imagine her bullying him, possibly also being stronger than him. Like he's the guy who when someone cuts in front of him at the supermarket he doesn't say anything because "confrontation is too much".
This is a tangent, but it's been catching my eye every time I come here and I wanted to ask if others had the same perspective.
Does that dude on the homepage, with his girl lying on his lap, look ridiculously depressed about hair loss? Like giant puppy dog eyes of sadness depressed?
Here's...
What do you think theories are?

That link is to a small study that seems to back up the theory, suggesting it is more than broscience.
The other thing that would be interesting would be to do the same study...
Sleep has been shown to retard aging as well as slow telomere shortening. Deep sleep lowers cortisol, which would help retain hair. Pubmed shows some studies about alopecia areata, can't find one on androgenic alopecia and sleep per se.

Thanks _Nightwing!
There was a physician selling an online formula awhile back who referred to this as 'reflex hyperandrogenicity'. Looking through Pubmed, this appears to be a concept that he made up, as far as I can tell. Does anyone have hard data on this? (ie. follicular biopsies or at...
I am not a doctor that treats hair loss. This is all just theory:
Steroidal 5 alpha-reductases (finasteride and dutasteride) bother me because their binding is irreversible. I worry that this ultimately changes the androgen receptor concentrations at the level of the follicle to make them...
He talked about this earlier, at length.
IP: Thank you for this incredible thread. It is clear that you have put an immense amount of blood, sweat and tears into this. Appreciate your analytic approach.
