Having experienced the indignity of hair loss myself, I feel I am well positioned to help other people with varying degrees of hair loss. Support Groups are randomly placed throughout the country and having seen what a positive experience it is when these women get together, I have decided to set up a group in Bromley, Kent. However, I need people to come!
Unfortunately I cannot afford to pay for the room hire on a regular basis, so I have decided to put together a series of informative talks all relating to hair loss and to provide refreshments and nibbles afterwards. For this there will be a £5 charge for a 2 hour session. Does this sound reasonable?
My first session is on Monday 11th July, 7.30-9.30pm in Bromley, Kent. I will give a talk on how low iron stores (serum ferritin) can be responsible for some women's hair loss. I will also give advice on how to boost iron levels through diet and supplements and also give the blood test details to request from your GP.
I recently attended a support group approximately 1 hour drive from my home. It was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and there were 2 new attendees. Both of these women have suffered with Alopecia for years, yet this was the first time they had ever spoken to someone else with the condition. I want to emulate this environment as it will hopefully provide an outlet where hair loss can be discussed freely and openly, without fear of embarassment.
If you like this idea please spread the word and if you don't think it will work, pleae let me know why. I want to help but need your support and guidance to do so.
