I found through trial and error how to use my makeup to give the impression of eyelashes.

First with eyebrows, ugh that is the hardest! I have always had thinner brows so I I first use a eye brow pencil to draw them on. Then I kind of blot them so they are very light but still seen. My sister in law who has battled breasted cancer twice and lost her eyebrows after the second round of chemo and they did not come back, uses an angled stiffer brush and brown shadow. Hers look very natural too. But trying to get them even with the arches in the right place is frustrating!

I checked on permanent makeup and that was outrageous! $350 for eyebrows! That is crazy! The dermotologist says he's seen some awful permanent makeup.

I use eyeliner on my upper lids and under my eye. I line on the upper lid as close to the eye as I can get. The lower eye , for me, I line but not as close. Then I get a brush and brush on shadow on the upper lid.

An old friend contacted me on FB. She told me she has been bald for 3 years. But her baldness is from being on chemo-therapy every 3 weeks for terminal cancer. She is in the battle. The Doctor originally told her she had a year to live. She told him respectfully that it was up to God when he wanted her to come home. How true!

I am so glad God wanted me to do this because I would never have known! Now I can put her in my prayers. Hopefully we can get together and share beauty tips.

Now everyone who reads this can pray for her too.
I won't give her name to respect her privacy, but when you pray for her God will know who you are talking about.:)

She told me life is good! Yes it is!

Category: Just talk

There are moments when I feel sad, where I want to feel sorry for myself but I just can't let myself go there. I look in the mirror and I see an "Observer " from the Tv show Fringe. LoL! I have cried twice since all this started. Once when Walt shaved my head and once when I was at work. I was having a pity party for myself. My eyes teared up and the tears came rolling out. Which made me cry harder because I had no eyelashes to hold them in my eyes. There are moments... but they are only that, they are not hours. I know He has opened another door for me. I smile now at the future.:)

First you cry, you are allowed. Losing your hair is traumatic. Waking up each day and another part of who you are is gone. I woke up one morning and half my eyelashes on one eye were gone. A week later it was my eyebrows, everything that gave my face character was disappearing! I tried false eyelashes but that took me almost two hours one morning to get them on. Walt felt so bad for me. He even came in the bathroom and just rubbed my back while I tried to get them on.

But I learned... I practiced putting makeup on. I got creative with eyeliner and eyeshadow. I do not like false eyelashes so I had to learn to make makeup work for me.

I take off my wig as soon as I get home each night. I am learning that my husband truly loves me for me. Having a wife that looks like an alien doesn't seem to bother him, but he has always been a big sci-fi fan.....

Hi! My name is Carol and I have AU. I am going to be starting a blog called Dignity's Corner. I am basing it on Proverbs 31:25, "Strength and dignity are her clothing and she smiles at the future." That is how I feel. I lost all my hair last year. There were so many things that I went through, the helpless feeling, taking cotrol, realizing that I can use this to help others. I know God let me experience this so that I can help others. He has made me  unique. I want to help others with hairloss, from people suffering with alopecia from an autoimmune disease or cancer patients. I want to help them be able to keep their dignity. From finding affordable wigs to putting makeup on to give the impression of eyebrows and eyelashes. I have even thought of having a wig share for those that can't afford wigs. I haven't got pictures yet but I will post them in a couple of days. I want to help women to "smile at the future."
