Noella's Hair Loss Story
I started losing my hair around puberty. When my parents noticed, they took me to specialists. I was told it was probably Alapcia Areata. I received injections in my scalp of animal placenta. Didn't do anything. Went to another specialist who gave me little white pills, a little bit of hair grew about an inch but then fell out. I was basically told at that time ((1970) that there ws no cure and they didn't know why it happened. I was labeled as being a very stressed out kid...that it was a nervous condition. Another doctor put me on steroids for awile. Of course, I put on weight but nothing else happened. By my senior year I had bald spots all over the place and during high school I was definately picked on, especially by the boys. I tried to be everybody's friend...
