I have had Alopecia since I was 17! not the greatest age to loose it when you are legal to drink and interested in Boys.....well I am now 29!
It all started with just patches and ended in total body hair loss.
So Alopecia has been a big part of my life for some time now...When it first happened I lived in a shell almost, not wanting to let anyone in, I hated to look at myself let alone let anyone else see me.
But one day I got up and thought I need to get on with things, this isnt going to stop me being the person I am on the inside.
I play hockey and enjoy the social aspect of this and have made many friends along the way.
All my friends love me for me! and that is as it should be. The people who say horrible things arnt worth the time of day anyway.
I generally wear band...
I have had steroids, a lotion painted on my head that itched like crazy! and UV light box...but I have tried nothing since.
