HairlossTalk: Could you run
through your entire regimen for us?
Neil: Lasercomb, Dr. Lees Minoxidil, Xandrox+Retin A, Tricomin,
FNS, and Proscar 1.25mg.
HairlossTalk: Could you
tell us how long you've been on each of the treatments in your regimen?
I realize you started Rogaine several years ago. How long were you on
it before you stopped? How long on each of the current items? Have u been
consistent, not missing days/applications?
Neil: I have been on Propecia/Proscar for
3 years now. When I started having Hair Transplants, felt I had to maintain
my crown area and vertex or else the Hair Transplants would look isolated.
Until December 2001 was not using anything else. Tried Regaine in the
80's but it didn't seem to work. Having read info from this and other
sites, thought I had not given it a proper trial before. Didn't stick
with it long enough or frequently enough. So decided to try it in combination
with Propecia. Added the Lasercomb in December, to see if it could help
with the other treatments, but didn't expect regrowth from the Lasercomb
alone. Added FNS in May, again to try and see if it would work in synergy
with the other treatments.

HairlossTalk: What dosage
of Propecia are you using?
Neil: I'm actually taking it in the form of Proscar at 1.25mg.
I did experience side effects after starting...loss of libido, weaker
erections, they lasted for about 6 months, now happily everything is
a-ok.
HairlossTalk: What kind of results
have you seen on the Laser Comb thus far, if any?
Neil: Felt my hair has become more coarse and less fly-away,
and temple area has a lot of fine white, dense hairs. Couldn't swear
it has caused any regrowth
HairlossTalk: Have
you seen results with Minoxidil since restarting? If so what was the
timeline like.. what kind of results.
Neil: Been using again for 5 months, and no results just
yet, but I decided I would not stop until at least 9-12
months.
HairlossTalk: Have you had
any scalp irritation throughout the duration of your regimen? If so,
how have you dealt with it?
Neil: I had the usual flaking, which lasted for awhile. I have
been using Dr. Lee's and like the ease of use and good absorbency of
it. The flaking and irritation seems to have gotten much better since
I added FNS though.
HairlossTalk: What is it about FNS
that convinced you to give it a try?
Neil: Seemed to have some good supporting backing in the claims
of Pilliel. Understood that the change of formulation may make a difference,
but I believed they had a good reputation for their other products and
would risk alot if this was a scam. If so, they will quickly receive
feedback which will be around sites like this in no time and the product
will just be another snake oil. The price didn't seem unreasonable to
give it a try.
HairlossTalk: Are you concerned
about the claims of deceptive marketing several people have accused
the makers of FNS of conducting?
Neil: I think they have been more naive than deceptive. The Internet
can now transmit bad news very rapidly, so they will soon get the feedback.
I think we are all a bit wiser, and more educated, and appreciate the
risk/benefits of these products.

HairlossTalk: What does your monthly regimen cost you?
Neil: Well use Dr. Reddy's Finasteride (Proscar) which is extremely
cheap, Dr. Lee's Minoxidil, and FNS. I feel this would be a manageable
routine without disrupting and impacting on my life to an unacceptable
level. So this will be my routine (plus Lasercomb), till the end of the
year. If nothing new, will be happy on Finasteride only. So at the moment
costs probably about $100 a month. If I don't see regrowth will only cost
me about $20 or less for the Finasteride.
HairlossTalk: Describe
for us a typical day on your regimen. When do you apply, how often, when
do you laser comb? for how long? when Minox, when FNS, etc...
Neil: In the morning I apply Minoxidil, and 1 hour later I apply
the FNS. In the evening I reapply the Minoxidil and take my 1.25mg Finasteride/Proscar.
Twice a week I also use the Lasercomb for 15 minutes, and then swap in
the Minoxidil with Retin A solution in the evenings, instead of standard
Minoxidil.
HairlossTalk: How long
will you give FNS before you decide whether or not it is working for you?
Neil: I have 2 bottles, like the feel of it so far, feel realistically
have to give it 6 months, so will buy another 2 bottles then decide after
that.
HairlossTalk: Have
you considered other proven growth stimulants instead of FNS, like Tricomin?
Neil: Yes, have tried Tricomin, and cosmetically I like it, its
nice on the scalp, but feel it is more conditioner like, and the cost
is expensive. Have tried Spiro and Revivogen but didn't like the inconvenience
of the applications and effect on hair. So want to have a regime that
I can stick to consistently, will not control my life, or drain too much
money.
