Carol's Alopecia Areata

See Carol's before and after pictures for her Alopecia Areata related hair loss

March 1, 2002 - the Five Month Mark

Good news and bad news. First the good news. In the areas which the injections were... well.. injected, Carol has seen complete regrowth. As far as the bad news goes, her medical card ran out and she has not been able to get back to the dermatologist for further injections. Either way, we're considering this a success. It's interesting to note that absolutely *no* hair has grown back in the areas which were not directly affected by the injections.

Unfortunately for this update, only two of the pictures actually turned out, but if you click them to view full size, there's no doubt she's starting to see results.

May 25, 2002 - 7 Month Mark

It seems that the lower portion of the "circle of new hair" that was appearing has thinned to nonexistence, while the upper portion of it has continued growing nearly to the length of 2 inches now.

Carol has not been back to the dermatologist to get any new shots since back in February, due to medical coverage expiring, so we'll be getting her back there soon, hopefully. As mentioned in the 5 month update, the spot seems to be getting smaller and filling in with hair, so we're all happy with what we've got so far! Imagine if she'd kept with the injections this whole time...
