OK, I have been on Propecia for a little over 2 months now, and I think I am in the middle of the shedding period, but it's not too drastic and I'm taking it as a good sign. I am relatively new to the whole idea of losing my hair, and honestly I'm a little unclear on how hair loss treatments work.

What I want to know is, for the people that maintain on Propecia, do they generally maintain the hair they had when they started the drug or the hair they had when the shedding stops? I read something that said some people have a decrease in hair count after starting the drug due to shedding, but then an increase once the shed telogen hairs begin to grow again. Any input on this?

Also, I have seborrheic dermatitis and am constantly rotating various shampoos to keep it under control, including Nizoral, Loprox, DHS Zinc, etc. Can rotating topicals such as shampoos have negative effects on Propecia results? For example, I have heard that Nizoral can cause sheds, so I am trying to stay away from that, especially since it hasn't been the most effective for my condition. Right now I am using a 2% zinc pyrithione shampoo daily which has kept the seb derm under control for several weeks.

I would appreciate input from anyone suffering from both hair loss and seborrheic dermatitis who is taking Propecia for advice on a good treatment regimen for the seb derm.

Thanks a lot, I can't tell you how helpful this site has been for me.
