Due to my hairs thinning out on the sides (lateral area) of my head, I had a scalp biopsy done by a dermatologist. He also checked my dihydrotesterone(DHT) level. DHT was normal. However, doctor said biopsy is showing the hair follicle is shrinking and degenerating so it is a typical male pattern baldness in progress. I still have a full head of hair, but thinning on the sides and back near the edges, and the biopsy sample was taken at the back of head where hairs are typically preserved even if you have that horseshoe due to having male pattern baldness. Can a doctor make a male pattern baldness dignosis from a biopsy sample taken from the bak of the head?
