    Pyrithione Zinc and shedding?

I added in a 1% PZ shampoo a week and a half ago since Nizoral 1% has been out of stock for a while. I have noticed the past couple days I have been shedding a lot. It's been thick hairs, thin hairs, short hairs, and long hairs and I wonder if I should discontinue it as I remember hearing others say that PZ has a negative effect with minoxidil when both are used.
Probably the most important thing is that when things get really bad and the world looks its darkest, you just have to throw up your hands and say "Well, alright!" cause it's probably gonna get a whole hell of a lot worse.

    Re: Pyrithione Zinc and shedding?

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12932243

Hair count results showed a significant (P < 0.05) net increase in total visible hair counts for the 1% pyrithione zinc shampoo, the 5% minoxidil topical solution, and the combination treatment groups relative to the placebo shampoo after 9 weeks of treatment. The relative increase in hair count for the 1% pyrithione zinc shampoo was slightly less than half that for the minoxidil topical solution and was essentially maintained throughout the 26-week treatment period. No advantage was seen in using both the 5% minoxidil topical solution and the 1% pyrithione zinc shampoo. A small increase in hair diameter was observed for the minoxidil-containing treatment groups at week 17. Assessments of global improvements by the patients and investigator generally showed the benefit of 5% minoxidil. The benefit of the 1% pyrithione zinc shampoo used alone tended (P < 0.1) to be apparent only to the investigator.
Hope that helps it says it doesn't do any harm, although you might want to check the methods, and I've also heard things about zinc and minox not being good bedfellows, if it's an anti dandruff shampoo you're after why not try one containing piroctone olamine (some types of TGel and Body shop ginger i think) or switch to revita shampoo for ket.
