Alpharma Receives Approval to sell Minoxidil Topical Solution in a 5% solution for Men.. as a cheaper alternative to Rogaine...Alpharma Inc. (NYSE: ALO - news), announced that it has received approval for Minoxidil Topical Solution USP, 5% for Men, bioequivalent to Pharmacia & Upjohn's Rogaine® Extra Strength, 5% for Men. Marketed by Alpharma's U.S. Pharmaceuticals Division (USPD), a Baltimore, Maryland based division, Minoxidil Topical Solution 5% for Men will be packaged in 60 ml bottles, available in single and twin packs.

This product is indicated for men for the treatment of gradually thinning hair, or gradual hair loss on the top of the scalp, and will compete in the $125 million hair regrowth market. Minoxidil Topical Solution USP, 5% for Men will complement Alpharma's existing line of hair re-growth products, which include Minoxidil Topical Solution 2% for Men and Minoxidil Topical Solution 2% for Women.
